Editorial Production Manager

A leading international medical journal publisher for the academic and professional markets, seeks an enthusiastic Editorial Production Manager, to join their team in London.

The Journal is going through a period of exciting change and are looking at launching new products this year so are looking for someone who can look at the existing team and processes for editorial and production whilst the business grows. You will manage the editorial production team, overseeing all processes to ensure timely publications whilst also meeting the companies high standards.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

- Overseeing the workflows of all journals and keeping these on track
- Providing editorial support
-Training new members of staff
- Review and develop the editorial production processes
-Oversee and maintain XML processes
- Work with peer review
- Line manage two direct reports

You should be highly organised and a great line manager. You will be able to work effectively, with a positive approach, both independently and as part of a team. Experience of copyediting, preferably medical, and proofreading, liaising with freelance suppliers and the ability to keep multiple projects on schedule and to budget at any one time is essential. Flexible and confident, you will be able to work in a small team ensuring material is precise and relevant at every part of the editorial and print schedules.

A crucial part of this role will be to support the team, including higher members of staff. In this role you will offer insight into the budget and keep this under review, maintain freelance expenditure and invoices, as well as generally covering the Head of Editorial Publishing Services.

Candidates must have an eye for detail, excellent communication and administration skills. An interest in life sciences would be advantageous.
