Editorial Project Manager

Do you have a background in managing museum archives or managing editorial projects in publishing?  A leading digital academic publisher has an exciting opportunity for Editorial Project Manager. You will have the opportunity to research and write content as well as managing their digital collections through the production process. This varied role offers the opportunity to bring together editorial project management skills and relationship management abilities to ensure their Arts and Humanities collections are delivered to a high quality and to schedule.  This is a full time role based in Wiltshire.

Key duties:

  • Manage all aspects of production process for their digital collections, from copywriting/research, to organising the digitisation to budget and schedule.
  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with academics and external organisations
  • Managing the technical build for digital collections, including the test phase
  • Lead a project team to assign workflows/tasks
  • Manage external suppliers and commissioning Editors/ Academics
  • Collaborate with colleagues on design, research tools, functionality, data reports
  • Working with development editors to conduct research and write content for their projects
  • Attend archives to count and assess material for inclusion in projects

Experience / skills required:

  • Editorial Project Management experience publishing or project managing in Museums/Galleries
  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with external suppliers, authors and academics
  • Strong project management skills with experience managing the improvement of processes
  • You will have excellent copywriting and research skills
  • A passion for history and the humanities, with an interest in primary source content
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strong commercial awareness and an academic background would be advantageous
