ELT Managing Editor – Lower Secondary
Our client, a not-for-profit international publisher, is looking for an ELT Managing Editor – Lower Secondary, for a fixed term contract to oversee and participate in the full life-cycle of content development activities on a new project, ensuring materials meet defined market requirements and quality standards.
Reporting to the Learning Content Development Manager, the main responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with key stakeholders to define ELT courses and project guidelines
- Leading the development of learning materials from concept & design to release & iteration
- Ensuring the knowledge management systems, websites, and marketing materials are robust
- Planning/delivery of market research, piloting, and UAT to create prototype samples
- Maintaining a sound working knowledge of major developments/issues within the ELT market
- Advising key teams on, overseeing or participating in, product delivery and training
- Providing editorial consultancy services for relevant business units
- Managing and liaising with freelance suppliers
- Ensuring products are high quality, cost-effective and based on key priorities
- Planning, scheduling and recording costs and resources activities, reports on expenditure/risk
- Evaluating tenders, obtaining quotations, and negotiating contracts.
The successful candidate will have solid experience of planning and developing professional print and digital ELT publishing materials and experience teaching English as a Foreign Language to teenagers (aged 11-16 years). Project management and/or commissioning skills are essential, as is experience working within a team. Excellent communication and negotiation skills are required and line managing experience is desirable. The contract is based on Phase 1 of a new project and if successful, Phase 2 will be 18 months to 2 years in duration.
