Executive Editor – Open Access

Our client, a global scientific publisher, requires an Executive Editor to lead and act as the chief advocate for the company's Open Access presence in China.

Main Responsibilities: 

• To identify and foster relationships with the leading academic individuals, institutions and societies to increase awareness of our brands.
• Be the face of Open Access group to appropriate research communities by speaking at conferences, engaging with important partners, stakeholders and other external bodies.
• To support and foster a sense of community among the open research group editorial and publishing staff based in China.
• To enhance our editorial presence and coordinate our outreach efforts in China.
• To ensure integration of the China-based team with colleagues globally.
• To collect and disseminate intelligence gathered about the research landscape in China, particularly on issues around open access, open data, funding, policy and related matters. 
• To represent the group, improve awareness of the journals, products and services, and promote its values through thought leadership.

Skills & Experience: 

• A science graduate, with a PhD in a related discipline
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of the scientific community and its needs.
• Sound knowledge and interest in science in general.
• Strong knowledge of and commitment to Open Access
• At least 5 years editorial experience in an STEM publishing environment
• 1–2 years of experience in STEM industry in Greater China.
