Experienced non-fiction Editor – trade (maternity)
A super opportunity has arisen for an experienced Editor of adult non-fiction trade reference books. We are looking for good candidates with around 4 years as an editor as you'll be hitting the ground running project managing a range of commercial titles.
Our client is a highly successful and growing adult non-fiction reference mass market book publisher.
The publisher produces a range of non-fiction popular reference books, autobiographies, memoire, gift and humour titles and bestsellers.
* You’ll need a good 4 years’ experience as a non-fiction reference Editor of adult books
* You’ll need editorial project managing experience, as you’ll be involved from acquisition stage up to final print and production stages
* This role includes engaging & managing freelance copyeditors, proofreaders, illustrators, typesetters & indexers
* As Editor, you’ll be managing permission requests when relevant
* The role also involves briefing covers, laying out plate sections; writing accompanying copy and captions
* You’ll also be inputting text corrections in InDesign (some experience and familiarity of InDesign is important)
Joining a small publishing team you'll report to to the Publishing Director and work on project managing a great list of commercial adult non-fiction titles; working with freelancers, writers and designers and playing a key role within the editorial team.
This is initially a full time nine-month contract, however, for the right candidate there is the genuine opportunity of a permanent full time post after the contract ends.
This role offers a great working environment and although it's a full-time role, there may be a small degree of flexibility on hours (depending on the persons experience of course) and the offices are based in London. Competitive salary; circa £32K
