Key Account Manager (maternity cover)

Faber is a leading independent literary publisher. We publish a diverse range of high-profile authors such as Kazuo Ishiguro, Anna Burns, Sally Rooney, Leïla Slimani, Tsitsi Dangarembga, Orhan Pamuk, Sebastian Barry, Laura Lippman, Lenny Henry, Luke Harding, Melissa Harrison and Amelia Gentleman, and we have a backlist containing the works of T. S. Eliot, Seamus Heaney, Sylvia Plath and William Golding, among many others. 

The Faber and Faber Sales department is looking to recruit a Key Account Manager to oversee established trading relationships with a wide-ranging portfolio including WHSmith, supermarkets, children's book clubs, music specialists and non-traditional bookselling accounts. The successful candidate will be required to work as part of a busy team representing Faber and the Independent Alliance publishers in both the adult and children's UK book trade. 

This role involves proactively selling and presenting directly to buyers, nominating titles for promotions, negotiating unit costs and managing budgets. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in account management and particular experience of selling to book clubs, third party agents and special sales accounts would be an advantage. The role involves reading and understanding confidential information such as contracts and estimates, and so being numerical and having an eye for detail are essential, as is a good working knowledge of Google mail, Excel and Word. 

We are looking for a book lover with a confident presentation style, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain calm under pressure. 

This is a maternity cover role (full time) to start at the beginning of August for the period of one year, reporting to the UK Sales Director. The job will be based in our London office, although we are currently working remotely.
