Publishing Director, Non-Fiction (Maternity Cover)

Faber is looking for a highly organised and experienced Publishing Director to join our editorial team to cover maternity leave, for 9 months to a year. The role will oversee our non-fiction publishing, from strategy and acquisition, through to the day-to-day activity of individual publications. The publishing director will manage the non-fiction editorial team and edit and publish an ongoing list of extraordinary writers, across the gamut of non-fiction. The role is supported by a shared assistant and can draw on desk-editing support.

The ideal candidate will be an outstandingly talented non-fiction editorial director or above, who also possesses management experience, proven strategic skills and sound financial knowledge. They will have a passion for a broad range of non-fiction, and will bring editorial excellence, flair and commercial impact to the publication of their books. They will be experienced in writing copy, presenting their books and assessing cover designs, and will have a deep knowledge of publishing processes and of Biblio. They will also be confident working with the sales, marketing, publicity, rights and audio teams to help develop energetic and effective campaigns.

The role will report directly to the Publisher.

The position is full time and the candidate will be expected to work at least two days a week from our offices in central London.

Salary is competitive, depending on skills and experience.
