Are you an experienced and successful sales professional looking for a new and exciting sales role within academic publishing? A leading global publisher is looking for a highly motivated individual to drive the sales of textbooks across academic institutions in Scotland and the North East of England. Managing your own territory, you will be expected to generate new business as well as maintain existing business, by selling and developing relationships with lecturers and universities to expand their growing textbook adoptions.
Some key responsibilities:
- Create and implement sales strategies for the territory
- Plan and attend customer meetings
- Prepare for, attend and contribute to UK and international sales meetings
- Grow and maintain extensive product knowledge of a large and growing product list
With a customer-focused attitude and a consultative approach to selling, you will maximize sales through identifying customers’ needs, matching products to those needs and preparing and delivering sales presentations. You will represent the company in gaining new business development opportunities and monitor sales of key adoptions to ensure relevant sell through is achieved.
You will have a proven track record in a sales environment including working towards sales targets. A knowledge of book sales or sales experience in academia or education would be useful but this is not essential. Your consultative approach to selling will be essential for hitting targets. You will be working closely with the rest of the sales team and with other departments therefore, strong communication skills and an enthusiastic approach are essential.
A valid driving license is essential as is the flexibility to be able to travel within the territory. This role will be field based and carries a generous salary and OTE plus car allowance.
