The Role

We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a driven and target-oriented publishing professional to join us as Head of Program within our Publishing Development department. This is a permanent position with remote working options across the UK.

Reporting to the Publishing Development Director, the Head of Program is responsible for the growth and development of multiple Frontiers titles within a Publishing Program. Working closely with senior managers across the Publishing departments and other key internal stakeholders, you will contribute to developing company-wide strategies to drive high-quality growth.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a program of multiple journals and their teams within a defined scope, responsible for overall journal team performance, staff management, external stakeholder collaboration
  • Responsible for the growth and development of Frontiers journals within the editorial program and accountable for defining and meeting program targets and objectives
  • Drives program growth and development through the development of article collections, editor engagement and journal launches, informed by competitor and market analysis
  • Represents the interests of the editorial program within the company and provides effective interface with the other departments in addition to bringing strategic value to the program
  • Inspires, mentors and provides guidance to the managers and their teams towards top performance
  • Contributes to developing company-wide strategic plans, policies and initiatives
  • Represents the company in an official role to external stakeholders

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in academic publishing
  • Demonstrated experience in a managerial role and a proven track record of people management
  • Excellent leadership, with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across all levels
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to understand complex data and make decisions effectively
  • Technical proficiency, with advance skills using current software (particularly MS Excel and Salesforce)
