Graphic Designer

Are you a designer with a passion for typography and publishing looking to take on a new role in London?  This opening, with an established publisher of high quality illustrated titles, is a rare opportunity for a junior designer to build a career in publishing and work across a range of books, online content, and e-publications.

Key duties:

• Work on bespoke contract titles for clients and prepare designs presentation for pitching purposes
• Develop book cover and content from scratch
• Work closely with editorial team to ensure the work is accurate
• Ensure images quality and create print-ready PDF as well as check proof before press
• Create advertorial content, media packs and marketing materials for book launch purposes
• Work along with Senior Designer and Publishing Director to deliver high-level design in a timely manner and to budget

Experience / skills required:

• A strong understanding and passion for typography
• Experience of designing text layout, including with integrated illustrations
• A portfolio that proves an understanding of the design styles that attract differing audiences
• Excellent IT and design skills with an advanced knowledge of InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
• The ability to sustain motivation whilst working on long-lead time projects
• Good communication skills and problem solving attitude
• Digital design expertise would be advantageous
• Thorough and meticulous approach with a keen eye for detail
