What you’ll be doing

Have you ever wanted to design and package a Marina Abramovic game to reboot your life? A feminist card game or a gradient jigsaw that elicits calm in the player? We have an exciting opportunity leading a team to conceive, develop and deliver a bestselling product line. Focusing on the Laurence King imprint, you will work with some of the world’s best illustrators, designers, artists, and photographers to create beautifully produced gifts and books which are acclaimed for their inventiveness, beautiful design and authoritative texts.

Who we are looking for

The Art Director will play a key role in ideation, design and delivery reporting into the Orion Publishing Group Creative Director. You will lead your team on projects, working with editors to develop concepts and taking them from brief to execution. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, authors and respond to retailer feedback, creating successful designs that surprise and delight.

Skills and experience required:

  • Delivering creative solutions for branding and packaging
  • Project management
  • Product development (preferred but not essential)
  • Negotiation
  • Briefing external illustrators, photographers and designers
  • Managing a team (preferred but not essential)
  • Understanding of the digital and print production process
  • Exceptional Adobe Creative Suite skills

With a proactive, problem-solving attitude, you will be adept at creating inspiring products, predicting issues and interpreting feedback. The role will suit someone who is looking to grow their skills and their experience through exposure to a wide range of design outputs and the design practice of fellow Art Directors.
