Commissioning Editor
We are looking for a creative and motivated Commissioning Editor to join our team at Coronet. You will have proven publishing experience and will develop a list of diverse, authentic and commercially-focused non-fiction, including memoir and popular culture. Reporting to the publisher you will work closely with the imprint’s existing authors and their titles, while attracting new talent with bestseller potential. This is an exciting opportunity, and the successful candidate will work on building on Coronet’s strategy of reaching new readers and publishing books from underrepresented voices.
What you’ll be doing
You will commission and develop a list of commercially focussed and profitable nonfiction titles per year in line with Coronet’s publishing strategy. You will deliver titles on time and to budget. Reporting to the publisher, you will also be responsible for helping to build and champion existing authors and titles.
Who we are looking for
With proven experience, you will be a creative and commercially-minded editor; you are likely to have a track record in commissioning successful and market focused non-fiction in areas such as memoir and popular culture. We are looking for someone who is a clear and effective communicator, dynamic, enthusiastic and energetic, and excited to work as part of a small and committed team.
What we offer
Our staff are our greatest asset and our benefits reflect this. In addition to 25 days annual leave days per year + bank holidays, we have an extensive list of benefits that include: a wide-ranging training library, development programmes including mentoring, Cycle to Work vouchers, Private Medical Insurance, eye care vouchers, up to 70% off book purchases, a charity book shelf, 2 community days per year, many employee networks to join, summer hours (finishing at 1pm on Fridays during the summer months!), season ticket loans, rent deposit loans, generous pension schemes and much more!
The role will be based at our London office, Carmelite House, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.
Who we are and what we do

These include Graham Norton, Sara Cox, Viola Davies, Tom Allen, Yewande Biala, DJ Fat Tony and Rob Delaney.
We always seek to reach new readers and to publish titles from underrepresented voices.
