Editorial & Design Assistant (Preschool & Picture Books)

£24,000 - £27,000 per annum, depending on experience

What you’ll be doing

Hachette Children’s preschool & picture book team has an exciting opportunity for an Editorial and Design Assistant. Reporting to the Editorial Director, Preschool & Picture Books, this is a key support role assisting with all aspects of administration, co-ordination, acquisition and production to support the efficient running of the editorial and design departments. The key tasks of the role will include managing agendas, taking minutes, coordinating sales material, assisting with author/illustrator care, updating internal databases, copywriting, proofreading, managing reprints and diary management. Facilitating clear and timely communications with internal and external contacts is key to this role which is a full-time and permanent position.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a highly organised and efficient self-starter who works well under pressure and who demonstrates great attention to detail. You will have strong communication, numeracy and administrative skills, and will be comfortable managing multiple tasks and co-ordinating the day-to-day running of a busy department. A curiosity about, and a love for children’s picture book design and illustration would be of benefit. You will be a proactive, solutions-focused team player who is capable of building positive working relationships with contacts at all levels.
