What you’ll be doing
To build lists that are quality, reactive, relevant, exciting and market led. To do this in line with strategy and targets set out by the Publisher and Senior Management Team.
To contribute to and help drive though the strategic development of the children’s colour nonfiction lists, as set by Publisher. To deliver commercial and creative success, growth, profitability and brand recognition across UK and International markets. Ensuring momentum and pace throughout acquisitions process.
Bringing new authors/illustrators/properties to the list, with major sales potential for all markets (mass, quality commercial and high end) across both home and international channels and encouraging team members to do the same, whilst always maintaining a clear focus on divisional strategy.
To work closely with their editorial colleagues to deliver on strategies set out for commercial growth, motivating and inspiring the editorial team to deliver sustained success.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering revenue and profit growth
- Jointly overseeing the quality and delivery of the publishing programme
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with authors, agents and third-party partners
- Management and overseeing of relevant editorial team
- Managing cross-functional relationships with marketing, publicity, sales, design and production effectively and in line with deadlines.
- Leading on partnerships and any relevant custom publishing

A highly experienced publishing force with a proven track record of commissioning a wide range of nonfiction titles and building commercial market led lists. Must be a fast paced, reactive self-starter with a passion for innovation and a nose for trend driven opportunities.

Handling IP is a pivotal component to the role, from coming up with original ideas to approaching exciting talent and bringing projects to life. This role requires someone who is energised by bringing out the best in the people around them and is bold, ambitious and visionary in approach.
