Rights Executive/Senior Rights Executive (12 month FTC)

What you’ll be doing

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Hachette Children’s Group Rights team. The Rights Executive/Senior Rights Executive role is tasked with the following:

  • Maximising revenue and profit of the text-led list through both rights and co-edition deals to meet/exceed individual sales targets and contribute to the departmental budget.
  • Working with the Text-led rights sub-team to develop strategies to maximise the profile of our lists in the international market and contribute to all of HCG’s goals.
  • Researching specific markets to make new contacts and develop business while maintaining existing good relationships.
  • Working closely across departments within HCG to ensure a smooth flow of information in both directions and to ensure close alignment with HCG strategies.

Who we are looking for

This is a role for a Rights professional with some experience of working in Rights and selling to foreign editors. We are looking for a candidate with experience and skills in the following:

  1. A rights professional with experience of and contacts in the world of children’s fiction and text-led non-fiction
  2. An energetic and enthusiastic individual, keen to travel and take our text-led lists to the international market.
  3. An understanding of the interplay between rights and co-edition deals in the profitability of a department and specific projects
  4. An independent thinker who can enhance both our sales and our creative strategies with fresh ideas
  5. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of customers and in-house colleagues
  6. Fluency in one or more languages highly advantageous
  7. Ideally be able to start no later than mid-May 2023
