What you'll be doing

An exciting opportunity has for a Senior Commissioning Editor to join the Hachette Children’s Picture Book & Preschool team in a full-time position.

Reporting to the Editorial Director, you’ll be responsible for commissioning a range of new titles for our market-leading picture book and preschool list. You will also work with existing authors and illustrators on the HCG picture book list, ensuring that all projects are delivered on schedule and budget.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a dynamic, self-starting editor who’s brimming with ideas. You should have extensive experience of working independently to progress acquisitions and projects. You should have strong agent relationships, and an understanding of the importance of author and illustrator care. You must be confident managing multiple tasks and tight deadlines. Experience of working with picture book brands would be an advantage.

This is a broad and varied role, and we are looking for somebody who will embrace working collaboratively with teams across the organisation. We need you to bring a positive, can-do approach and build strong relationships with your immediate team, other departments, as well as authors, illustrators and agents.

This role can be based at our London, Sheffield or Newcastle office, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.
