Digital Marketing Manager

Working closely with the Marketing & Digital Director, the focus of this role is to develop and implement digital strategies and tactics for the HarperCollins Children's Books (HCCB) campaigns, that drive profit and growth to frontlist, backlist and brand titles across physical, digital and audio formats

  • You will act as ‘digital evangelist’ and guru staying abreast of latest developments and technology in the digital space  

  • You will be known for creativity and innovation but also for rigorous testing, measurement and iteration to improve results continuously

  • You will have a deep understanding of what content resonates across the social media landscape

  • You will know how to reach relevant digital audiences and how to deliver impact to the commercial benefit of the company, our authors and titles

 Core responsibilities

  • Database management, community management, website management, paid social metrics, discoverability (optimise metadata, SEO and PPC).

  • Drive meaningful innovation and commit to position HCCB as industry leaders in digital marketing

  • Actively seek out digital trends, new platforms and technology; make actionable recommendations, share learnings and identify opportunities on a campaign level  

  • Develop and implement content plans that effectively reach and engage our audiences and influencers

  • Analyse the results of launched marketing initiatives and take learnings forward to drive improvements. Train, educate and empower team members accordingly 

  • Champion metadata best practices and monitor with Editorial teams

  • Scrutinise HCCB Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest channels; identify opportunities to improve social media strategy

  • Implement and optimise ads across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, Google and Amazon

  • Own website content management and work collaboratively to build performance and communities

  • Ensure competitive advantage by evaluating competitor strengths and weaknesses (publisher and broader children’s consumer products and entertainment)

  • Maintain gold standard of marketing in line with data laws, under 16s and ensure compliance

  • With the Marketing & Digital Director, represent HCCB at digital meetings, internal and external

  • Work with the PR team to build a segmented list of trusted influencers

  • Manage and provide direction to external digital media agencies 

Skills and experience required

  • Digital marketing and media experience across paid, owned and earned channels

  • Success with social media and online community management

  • Experience managing multiple, competing priorities, including stakeholder expectations

  • Operational experience across ad platforms, social insight and scheduling tools

  • Experience using website content management platforms and web analytics

  • Experience marketing (and remarketing) to targeted audiences

  • Has worked for a global brand in entertainment, arts or media

  • Preferred experience working on children’s brands

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills with a forensic eye for detail

  • Problem-solving with strong analytical skills, strategic thinking and operational acumen

  • Strong relationship building skills and a collaborative team player

  • Ability to breakdown multi-layered data and analytics to inform decision making

  • Experience crafting stories and initiatives that people connect with

  • Adaptable, thriving in a fast-paced, changing environment

  • A love of digital design and well-crafted copywriting

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
