Introduction to the role

Farshore is looking for an experienced senior editor to join its market leading children’s licensed publishing division. Our list boasts the biggest brands in the world such as Minecraft, Mr Men Little Miss, Winnie-the-Pooh and Thomas & Friends. The senior editor will have a particular focus on gaming and play a critical role in assisting the Publisher and Global Acquisitions Director with new gaming acquisitions. They will have a passion for this area and be able to bring knowledge, authority and creative excellence to the role.

Key tasks and accountabilities

  • Strategic position in the team, working closely with the Publisher and Global Acquisitions Director to find new properties and develop compelling creative pitches.
  • Creative lead for gaming editorial with an integral role in programme planning, researching and creating new titles, including presenting at key stakeholder meetings as required and developing in-depth knowledge about the brands under their remit.
  • Direct line manager for one editor, but also as a senior member of the editorial team, a key role in developing business knowledge and editorial skills across the team.
  • Oversee a range of titles from inception through to print, ensuring high editorial standards.
  • Commission original content and manage freelancers where appropriate, negotiating with external parties to get the best deals on content creation.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with the IP holders, representing Farshore with professionalism, understanding and creative excellence.
  • Deliver projects on time and on budget, in collaboration with design and production, for children of different ages.
  • Copy edit/proofread titles for other team members as required as part of our wider approvals process and engage constructively with feedback from the team.
  • Create and update market leading metadata and AIS to enable your titles to successfully reach
    our consumers.
  • Ensure all the relevant HC systems and processes are used and understood to meet the wider business goals.

Your first six months

  • We hope you can bring gaming enthusiasm and knowledge to the team and hit the ground running to develop a commercial range of titles, navigating the HC systems/processes, whilst successfully managing your line report and sharing responsibilities with the Farshore licensing team. 

Experience required

  • Demonstrable editorial experience in a similar role, preferably a managerial one
  • Strong understanding of the gaming market
  • Experience and/or understanding of licensing
  • Knowledge and experience working on titles for children
