Our Production team are looking for an experienced Senior Production Controller to independently manage the Fiction division’s most high-profile mono and illustrated trade books from a list of authors including J R Tolkien, Bernard Cornwell and Lucy Foley. Delivering on schedule and within budget. This is a great opportunity for someone who has several years of book production experience looking to join a forward-thinking and innovative company. This is a permanent position.

Key Accountabilities

  • A large emphasis on being able to work independently and managing upwards

  • Management potential, with the ability to fill in for the Production Manager/Director as and when required

  • Have the confidence and ability to chair progress, print sign off and ad-hoc meetings as required

  • Project management of high-profile titles keeping a tight control on costs/schedule/quality at every stage

  • Mentor, support and set an example to others in the Production team

  • Manage complex and high profile mono and illustrated titles (front/backlist)

  • Manage illustrated co-editions

  • Costing new titles, checking accuracy of costing forms before circulation

  • Check mono/colour proofs where necessary and make sure proofs are matched

  • Maintain excellent version control

Key Skills/Experience

  • A depth of both mono and colour book production experience  

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written

  • Strong computer skills, Word, Excel and databases

  • Excellent numeric skills

  • Excellent organisational and project management skills

  • Prioritisation skills and the ability to support others

  • Calm under pressure

  • Meeting deadlines

  • Teamworker
