Head of Book Selection & Purchasing

Our client, a charity with connections to the publishing industry is looking to recruit a Head of Book Selection and Purchasing to join their team based in London.

The Head of Book Selection and Purchasing will be responsible for ensuring excellent publisher relationships for the charity, representing any publishing perspectives and knowledge to the wider charity and ensuring the appropriate selection of high quality children's books to support the organisation. A key part of this role will be to develop excellent stakeholder relationships, particularly with publishers from the children's book world. You will negotiate terms, manage book purchasing budgets and schedules and managing all book selection and purchasing for the charity.

The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of children's book publishing and an excellent understanding of the children's publishing market - including books, authors and illustrators. Experience in buying or selling a range of children's books is essential, as well as strong account management and negotiation skills. You will be proactive, highly motivated and solutions focused with a passion for children's reading.
