Head of Children’s Marketing & Publicity (trade books)

Our client, a long established independent London based children’s mass market trade book publisher is continuing to grow and has now created a brand new role as part of their growth plans for 2020 and beyond.

This publisher seeks a Children’s Head of Marketing & Publicity to manage and drive forward all children’s book publishing marketing & PR activity. The successful candidate will ideally start in the Spring of 2020.

This is a new appointment, and the jobholder will be responsible for all aspects of Children’s marketing and PR, working closely with the children’s publishing team and reporting to the Group Marketing Director. You’ll initially have support of a PR & Marketing Assistant.

You’ll have the opportunity to work with some of the leading and high profile children’s brand names and authors. The successful candidate will ideally bring both PR and marketing skills, including some experience touring with authors and have the usual trade and media contacts.

The publishing program is a broad mix of bestselling children’s non-fiction consumer books both new and backlist for all ages. Including; licensing & character led books, colouring & activity, popular natural history, picture books and fantasy & fiction titles. 

This is in our view, a super unique role offering a wide remit to work both strategically on both marketing and publicity for children’s books.

You’ll be the senior Marketing & PR person representing the children’s division and the voice of the marketing & PR department internally, esp with acquisitions and third-parties. You'll be regularly liaising with the sales department and with the senior publishing teams.

We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, self-motivated and passionate about children’s books and have an instinct for creating marketing and publicity campaigns.
