Head of Journal Development

A scientific membership charity in London is looking for a Head of Journal Development. They are community-focused with a worldwide reach, and aim to help unlock the potential of their knowledge.

The Head of Journal Development will be providing strategic and editorial direction across their portfolio of seven journals, helping to raise their profile and actively seeking out opportunities for commissioning content in response to developments in relevant marketplaces and threats.

Regularly auditing journals will also be a key part of this role to monitor compliance and identify educational opportunities for staff and editorial boards. There will be some line management, although prior experience is not necessary.

The successful candidate will need to come from a scientific publishing background with experience in journal development and commissioning. Excellent relationship building and communication skills are essential as the role will cover the governance of editorial boards as well as representing the organisation at conferences and other events. Knowledge of aspects of Open Science is also a must for this role.
