Head of Marketing (STM/Academic) – 6 month contract

A leading publisher of Academic and STM journals with offices worldwide is looking for a capable and experienced Head of Marketing to manage a team and implement the strategy for all Open Access and author marketing. This is a 6 month maternity cover and is a fantastic opportunity for someone with STM or Academic publishing and management experience to join a prestigious publisher.

Key duties:

• Manage the combined OA and author marketing team, ensuring that marketing plans are fulfilled on time and to budget
• Develop and implement OA and author branding, along with OA submission marketing strategy
• Monitor the team’s activities with usage metrics and reporting
• Develop effective customer retention plans
• Ensure that the marketing team has the necessary digital skills and training to ensure optimum team performance
• Act as the company representative for the OA marketing department
• Meet specific KPIs, as set by the Strategy Director

Experience / skills required:

• Open Access experience is essential
• Strong people management skills
• Excellent relationship building skills, both internally and externally
• An understanding of author needs, open access landscape for journals and monographs
• Strong digital marketing experience
• Experience of both STM and HSS journal and monograph publishing would be beneficial
