Head of Publishing (12-month contract)

This is an exclusive opportunity with Atwood Tate for a Head of Publishing to join an STM society on a 12-month contract. You will manage a small and friendly publishing team, implement the journals strategy and look after the Editors-in-Chief and editorial boards. Please note that this role is for a 12-month contract to start in July either on a part-time (4 days a week) or full-time basis.

Key duties:

• Implement publishing strategy, driving content quality and growth
• Lead and oversee the launch of new journal
• Negotiate contracts with publishing for existing products
• Manage publishing team and handle relationships with Editors-in-Chief and editorial boards
• Identify new opportunities and take active part in senior management team

Experience / skills required:

• Extensive experience in STM journal publishing is essential
• Deep knowledge of scholarly scientific publishing and experience at a strategic level
• Line-management experience is required
• Experience negotiating contracts and launching new journals would be an advantage
• A collaborative and supportive approach to work
• Ability to work in a small and diverse team in a varied and busy role
