Health Sciences Journals Manager

One of the world’s leading health science publishers is looking for a Journals Manager to help develop a portfolio of health science journals, helping a diverse group of publishing partners to make a difference in the world. This role is based in their Oxford office and would perfect for an experienced junior publishing professional looking to take the next step in their STM publishing career.

 

Key duties:

  • Lead the management, development and performance of a list of prestigious society journals
  • Build strong client relationships, and act as a trusted adviser to society executives and journal editors
  • Proactively develop the portfolio to increase visibility in the market
  • Track key metrics for titles (e.g. impact factor, usage, revenue, submissions, etc) and use these to inform strategies for future growth
  • Take responsibility for successfully renewing or renegotiating society partner contracts
  • Research potential society journal acquisitions in subject area

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience in either journals publishing, client relationship management or in academic research is essential
  • You must have a solid understanding of journals publishing
  • An understanding of key issues / debates in academic journal publishing is required for this role
  • You will have a proven track record of using your own initiative to develop solutions
  • Excellent skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) are essential
