Commissioning Editor - Adult Non-fiction

Hardie Grant is a leading independent publisher of non-fiction books. Our internationally renowned and award-wining list specialises in cookery, lifestyle, health and well-being, MBS, interiors, gift and more. An exciting opportunity has arisen within the editorial team – we are looking for a Commissioning Editor to seek out and publish new talent across a variety of subject areas.

The Role

Reporting to the Publisher, you will project manage and champion books from inception to publication and beyond, be commercially minded and passionate about books. You will love spotting trends, enjoy thinking and working creatively and have a keen eye for design. Ideally you will have a clear understanding of the adult non-fiction market and experience of commissioning non-fiction titles. Above all else, we are looking for vision, enthusiasm and bold, fresh ideas. Author liaison, editorial accuracy and adherence to schedules are key, as is experience of working with freelancers and in-house sales, marketing and publicity teams.  

This is an excellent opportunity to become involved in every aspect of the editorial process on both illustrated and non-illustrated titles, and to work with high-profile authors on our innovative, commercial and fast-growing list.
