Institutional Sales Manager – Books

Our client, an academic publisher with one of the most successful track records for growth over the last ten years, is looking to recruit an Institutional Sales Manager to maximise key universities purchasing institutionally and support the UK field sales team with digital opportunities.

Supporting the Senior Customised Solutions Manager on custom publishing and bundle sales, the main responsibilities include:

  • Achieving institutional sales targets by establishing and converting pipeline into high-revenue institutions
  • Maintaining records in the CRM database and keeping key stakeholders informed of progress
  • Monitoring competitor activity in the institutional market
  • Supporting the UK Field and Inside Sales teams with joint calling and mentoring on digital products
  • Travelling, 3 – 4 days per week, to meet with key customers during University term time.

The successful candidate will have proven sales experience in academic publishing with a knowledge of consultative, needs-based selling. Strong problem-solving skills are essential in order to understand the needs of the customer and convert these into the most appropriate deliverable solutions. Excellent attention to detail and communication and negotiating skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise a varied workload. A high-level proficiency in excel and Salesforce (or similar CRM system) is desirable, as is a clean driving licence.
