Instructional Designer (contract)

A global education publisher is looking to recruit Instructional Designers (with experience in storyboard building) for a number of projects. This is to start immediately for 3 months with the potential to extend and can be based in the office in Essex or can also be done from home. This is a full time role, Mon-Fri, 37.5 hours per week. Key duties:

  • Responsible for preparing and scripting of content into template instructional design storyboards for a number of online and blended course development projects
  • Work closely with the lead instructional design who will initiate the storyboard template for each project
  • Be responsible for ensuring that content received from subject matter experts (smes) is mapped and scripted into the storyboard and that the content is reviewed for accuracy, quality and consistency, before being handed over to the production team for copy editing and subsequent Production
  • Ensure on time delivery of content for approval to the lead instructional designer per the project schedule
  • Carry out online reviews during the production phase to ensure that the storyboards have been  accurately translated into the live environment

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience of working as an instructional designer ideally in a publishing/online learning environment
  • Experience of developing and scripting online course materials in a variety of content formats
  • Ability to work on multiple projects within aggressive timeframes, to multi-task and continually prioritise changing project tasks / deliverables, and meet deadlines
  • Ability to script content to the required standards and according to schedule
  • Knowledge of and experience with academic Learning Management Systems
  • Familiarity with relevant computer programs and course delivery platforms including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, flowchart mapping (e.g Lucidchart), screen capture software (e.g. Camtasia), off-the-shelf authoring tools (e.g. Articulate) and writing for Virtual Learning Environments (e.g. Blackboard, Moodle, Canvas)
