Writers Support Executive

Would you like a job where you help writers achieve their publishing dreams? We are looking for a customer service executive to join our fun, successful, and fast-paced team.

As an online writers’ services company, we provide editorial reviews, creative writing courses, and general support for authors based in the UK and internationally. Our Writers Support team manage a busy inbox with queries ranging from guiding authors through the publishing process to resetting our members' passwords and helping them navigate the website. As a Writers Support Executive, you will have the opportunity to work closely with authors and make a difference in their journey to publication.

Jericho Writers takes an author-first approach to sales and the services we offer. This means that if we genuinely don’t think a service will benefit the author, we won’t recommend it. That said, a large part of this role will be sales and outreach driven. This would include email outreach, calling sales leads, and managing/taking booked phone calls with authors who have expressed an interest in our services.

We’re looking for someone with 2-3 years’ experience in a customer service role with a similar sales/outreach focus. You will be both highly professional in your approach, well organised, able to perform administrative tasks and prioritise tasks with multiple deadlines, as well as friendly and empathetic with customers. We welcome applications from those who are either a writer themselves or have a strong interest in books, publishing and/or editorial work. However, don’t worry if you haven’t got direct experience working with authors or within writers’ services, we’ll help you develop the skills and knowledge you need.

You’ll be perfect for this job if you:

  • Enjoy chatting to people of all backgrounds but particularly writers, agents, and editors
  • Aren’t afraid to pick up the phone to a stranger and make a genuine connection
  • Are more than comfortable dealing with multiple emails, online chats, and Teams messages in one go
  • Have a proactive attitude to problem solving
  • Love working in a small, busy team where you can make a real difference
  • Are rigorous about updating customer records
  • Aren’t phased by the occasional customer complaint and understand how to manage these
  • Have a genuine interest in the writing and publishing world
  • Enjoy taking part in activities such as ‘pet pics Friday’*

*Not an essential requirement by any means but having a cute cat won’t hurt.

Contract: Full time, 35 hours per week. Permanent.

Salary: from £24,000 - £26,000 per year (DOE)
