Journal Publishing Editor

A global scientific publishing organisation is looking to recruit a Journal Publishing Editor to be responsible for the continuing development of their physics, Engineering and Computer Science journals publishing programme, and contribute to the growth and quality of the  journals, by being involved in the development, commissioning and product development plans. Based in London, this role can be worked on a hybrid basis remotely.

Some of the key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Developing new STEM-related research journals in the physical and Computer sciences through acquisition or new launches, with an emphasis on open access.
  • Managing an existing portfolio of journals continuously improving and maintaining market relevance.
  • Identifying high-value topics for Special issues and commission guest editors.
  • Meet portfolio related objectives, regarding content growth, articles market share, citation share, relative impact factor, editorial speeds and author/editor satisfaction
  • Developing collaborative relationships with existing/potential authors, Editorial Board Members and referees.
  • Where required, represent the company at external conferences and events

This is a new position where you will have the opportunity to develop the role and your skills within a forward-thinking international publisher. The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or higher,  in a physical science and will have previous demonstrable experience within STEM publishing within a journals environment.  You will have proven ability in managing multiple projects simultaneously, to tight deadlines, plus, the ability to build, nurture and manage Editorial Boards. A strong command of the English language, both written and verbal is essential, as is the ability to form collaborative relationships with authors, Editorial Boards and referees.
