Journals Development Manager

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Journal Development Manager to join a leading open access publisher and work in their London office. This is an exciting time to join this innovative and technology driven scientific publisher in a period of huge growth. This role will oversee several journals and contribute to acquisition and development strategies.

Key duties:

  • Manage several journals and launch new titles, ensuring growth and success
  • Drive content acquisition strategies and innovate and implement editorial strategies
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with high-profile academics
  • Promote and represent journals in all communications
  • Forecast journal growth and deliver against targets
  • Lead internal projects on content management, ensuring quality standards are met
  • Liaise with colleagues to ensure smooth running of operations

Experience / skills required:

  • Experience in STM or academic journal publishing is essential
  • Strong project management and organisation skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work independently on own initiative
  • Able to digest large amounts of information and react effectively under pressure
  • Excellent communication, with a decisive and tactful approach
  • An interest or background in ICT or Mathematics would be advantageous
  • Solid IT skills including Excel and a working knowledge of social media networks/platforms
