Junior Designer

A popular children's and adult book publisher is looking for a Junior Designer to join their friendly team in green Northamptonshire to work on a range of licensed products, including some amazing and world-wide known brands. As a Junior Designer, you will be responsible for managing book design projects and assisting with creative directions to ensuring the highest design quality is achieved. High attention to detail is key for this role, as the successful candidate will be ensuring that all products fit the license style, run on schedule and to budget, and are of a high quality.

As a Junior Designer, you will be working together with an Editorial partner and be responsible for:

  • Creating layouts, editing art and images for books, working across different formats and novelties
  • Researching new design artists for new projects and manage the commissioning process
  • Coordinating book design projects following creative briefs and style guidelines
  • Ensuring files follow the correct workflow for design approval
  • Taking care of art editing, researching and briefing for a wide range of book design projects
  • Coordinating external contributors, including artists, illustrators, packagers, and other freelance agents.

This role will suit someone who's an excellent team-player and a creative problem solver. The role involves use of creative platforms, and a good knowledge of InDesign is desirable. This is a fantastic entry-level opportunity for a creative designer, who dreams of beginning their career in publishing.
