Junior Editor

Are you looking to start your career in editorial book publishing? A leading trade publisher based in Northampton is looking for a Junior Editor to join their editorial team. This is a great entry-level opportunity for someone with a keen interest in illustrated books and ready to start their career within publishing.

Key duties:

  • Editorially develop and co-ordinate a range of books as briefed by the Head of Publishing.
  • Edit a range of texts from manuscript to sign-off on a range of formats and novelties.
  • Ensure that all books are produced to house style and to brief.
  • Propose new titles and formats based on observations of the wider book market.
  • Ensure that all files meet the expected standards of editorial accuracy during all stages of the publishing process.
  • Project manage a range of books, making sure that key milestones are met.

Experience / skills required:

  • Some experience working within book publishing, ideally in editorial is highly desirable.
  • Excellent copy-editing and proofreading skills.
  • An understanding of the editorial process is desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks.
  • Excellent communicator with a proactive and dynamic approach.
