Key Account Manager (set 6-month term role)

Our client, a childrens publisher seeks an experienced KAM to join their UK Sales team for a set 6-month contract. 

This publisher seeks only candidates with recent bespoke sales experience in developing bespoke products to meet specific non-trade key customer needs, in addition to managing stock clearance deals. 

Reporting to the UK Sales Manager, you will use your sales experience to work across an exciting portfolio of key accounts, forming strong business relationships and be responsible for maintaining and growing sales with the key accounts in your remit. 

You’ll be working closely with colleagues as part of the team to ensure that overall business goals are met and be an enthusiastic ambassador for this publisher.  A clear understanding of the wider publishing process is necessary.

Key Aspects of Role

  • Developing bespoke products to meet individual customer needs, looking to maximise margin and increasing incremental sales

  • Working with bargain and clearance key customers
  • Maintaining and growing sales, managing relationships with a large and varied account base
  • Developing strong knowledge of the childrens publishing list, both frontlist/backlist and providing a first-class service to clients
  • Have an in-depth knowledge of customers’ businesses, proactively identify needs and recommend creative solutions
  • Understanding industry sector, having knowledge of competitor titles, campaigns, so you can maximise publishers profile with your key accounts
  • Communicate customer, competitor and market intelligence feedback effectively
  • Working towards and achieving your sales targets
  • Writing business reports, forecasting revenue figures and providing commentary to explain financials
  • Working with UK and Export teams to develop print runs for bespoke products in order to develop sales efficiency and maximise sales opportunities
  • Actively seeking new sales opportunities
  • Build relationships across internal departments to ensure business goals are met
  • Working across all imprints within the business

Experience you will need

  • You need to hit the ground running, hence the need for specific bespoke sales experience
  • You must have proven recent experience and success with bargain, value, as well as clearance customers (eg 66 Books, PR Books)
  • Proven sales success and experience developing bespoke book projects
  • At least 5-years sales experience in the above markets
  • Ability to work as part of a close sales team and with your wider publishing colleagues
  • Able to work collaboratively within a team
  • The ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Excellent interpersonal, organisational skills
  • Confident, motivated, initiative, personable
