Managing Editor

Do you have a passion for illustrated children’s non-fiction and novelty and love working as part of a team?

A leading international illustrated children’s publisher Lelequ is looking for an experienced project editor with excellent interpersonal skills to manage their growing English language list, based in East London. Working in a beautifully designed office in Hackney, the role would suit someone with strong project management skills who loves finessing text and crafting a book, from start to finish. Some experience in children’s novelty titles is a plus.

As Managing Editor, you would oversee up to 25 titles a year, managing a team of freelancers, authors and illustrators, and working alongside an in-house designer. You would be responsible for overseeing titles from the initial concept to the final product. Key tasks would include planning books/series with colleagues, briefing and liaising closely with internal and external editors, designers and authors and project managing titles ensuring they are published according to schedule and budget.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of working on integrated, illustrated books and be proficient in Indesign, and have an excellent understanding of the editorial process and an eye for design. You should have a creative personality, strong organisational and time management skills and be able to prioritise workloads in a busy environment.

The role is full time but location is flexible - it can be done part time from home, with 3 days minimum in the office.

Competitive salary depending on experience.

Closing date – 25th May 2022
