The Little Tiger Group is a dynamic publisher of – among other formats – innovative, commercial novelty board books. We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, efficient and creative Senior Designer, with a passion for novelty, to join our amazing team.
If you are someone with proven years in a novelty-book design role, and have been responsible for developing appropriately-targeted novelty boards, and delivering books from concept to production, on time and within a set budget, then we would love to hear from you. We’re looking for an outward-facing team-player who will come up with new formats, bring new ideas and illustration talent to the list, and create exceptional, innovative work.
Key duties:
- To brainstorm and develop brand new novelty formats that are market and cost appropriate.
- To design fantastic series with a strong, distinctive brand look and fresh, striking typography.
- To liaise with the production department throughout format development.
- To deliver workable, precise and comprehensive mechanical novelty files.
- To provide clear commercial briefs and art direction through all stages of the design.
- To pursue, nurture, inspire and develop both established and upcoming illustrators, either directly or via agents, helping them create their most exciting work.
- To maintain accurate files and logs, meeting key deadlines and budgets.
- To be an advocate for the Little Tiger Group.
Experience/skills required:
- At least 4 years’ experience in children’s books.
- Relevant market, consumer and trend awareness to help develop new commercial concepts and formats.
- Outstanding flair for typography and book design.
- Exceptional mechanical knowledge and attention to detail.
- Ability to be creative in solving design problems – often in 3D.
- Excellent skills in communication, organisation, time and project management, plus flexibility to juggle multiple deadlines.
- Strong presentation skills, and the ability to present design concepts, approaches, and work in progress to various internal and external collaborators.
- Good knowledge of production processes.
- Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
