Managing Designer/Studio Manager – Children’s Picture books

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented, efficient and creative Managing Designer or Studio Manager, with a passion for picture books, to work with our wonderful team. Little Tiger publishes dynamic, commercial novelty boards, picture books and fiction. 

If you’re someone with proven years in picture-book design, and have been responsible for developing and delivering picture books from concept to production, we’d love to hear from you. We’re looking for a team-player to manage our sales-material workflow, bring new illustrators to the list and create exceptional, innovative work.

Key duties: 

  • Design fantastic books, with distinctive covers, brand looks and striking typography. 
  • Provide clear commercial briefs and art direction through all stages of the design. 
  • Pursue, nurture and develop illustrators – helping them create their most exciting work.
  • Manage the sales material workflow with our design team.
  • Liaise with the production department throughout all stages.
  • Maintain accurate files and logs, chasing and meeting key deadlines. 


Experience/skills required: 

  • At least 6 years’ experience in children’s books. 
  • Outstanding flair for typography and book design. 
  • Creative in solving design problems. 
  • Excellent skills in communication, organisation, time and project management, plus flexibility to juggle multiple deadlines. 
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to expertly chase and collate visual assets from the design team.
  • Relevant market, consumer and trend awareness to help develop new commercial concepts and formats.
  • The ability to present design concepts, approaches, and work-in-progress to various internal collaborators. 
  • Good knowledge of production processes. 
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. 
  • Proficiency in managing sales material and workflow alongside the design team is a key requirement for this position.
