Press and Events Manager

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Press and Events Manager to join the MACK team in London, managing outreach around our exciting list of critically acclaimed art, architecture, critical theory and photography books. This is a fast-paced role suited to an excellent communicator with a passion for publishing and the arts, who thrives in a collaborative and energetic workplace. 

Key responsibility include:

  • Creating ambitious and creative publicity campaigns across print, broadcast and digital media
  • Securing coverage for our books across media including newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, podcasts and more
  • Growing and maintaining relationships with key journalists and editors, and taking an active approach to growing our outreach 
  • Planning our list of global events: including book launches, talks, signings and more, both online and in person
  • Working closely with the Head of Communications to manage MACK’s social media accounts
  • Collaborating with our sales, marketing, design and editorial teams to create press and events materials, and to ensure that press pieces are maximised across the company
  • Being a key point of contact for authors: this includes working closely with them to achieve specific press opportunities, communicating the publicity and events processes, planning events, and more
  • Managing publicity tracking documents; and reporting these regularly to the MACK team

Skills:

  • Some publicity experience is strongly preferred, though not required
  • A proven knowledge of contemporary art book publishing
  • An ability to multitask, prioritise and juggle a heavy workload under pressure
  • Enthusiasm for building relationships with authors, journalists and editors
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to convincingly pitch books and ideas
  • A team player who is enthusiastic about working across-departments and learning about independent publishing

Details:

  • The role will be report directly to the Head of Communications
  • The role is full time, based in our studio in S.E. London
  • Salary is dependent on experience
  • Start date as soon as possible
