Editorial Director, Mantle
Mantle is a finely curated hardcover imprint within Pan Macmillan, committed to publishing a select list of authors defined by their exceptional writing, prize-winning potential and broad storytelling appeal. Mantle’s bestselling brands include CJ Sansom, Kate Morton and Kate Mosse, and literary prize-winning authors Andrea Camilleri, Ray Celestin, Natalie Haynes, Charlotte Mendelson and Laura Shepherd-Robinson.
We are now embarking on a new chapter and looking to expand our horizons to include both memoirs and novels which are voice-driven with character-led narratives, and have the potential to break through with the power of their stories to spark word -of-mouth success both domestically and internationally.
We are seeking a talented Editorial Director who will publish these genre-defying authors of tomorrow and join a small but dynamic editorial team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of discovering and nurturing exciting new talent, creating top ten bestsellers, and have a clear market-driven editorial vision. They must be passionate about every book they bring to market.
Key tasks of the role include -
- Being editorially responsible for a list of authors and their profitability within the Mantle imprint and the overall profitability of Mantle.
- Commissioning and contracting books for publication
- Presenting and pitching titles at sales conferences and internal meetings.
The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated a track record in acquiring fiction titles and bringing them to market successfully.
