Press Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a creative and enthusiastic Press Officer with a passion for books to join the Pan Communications team.

You will have experience working on commercial fiction and non-fiction and experience in providing high levels of author care or talent management

The role will report to the Head of Publicity, Pan and sits within the Pan Communications team.

 Key tasks include:

 To plan and implement effective, audience-appropriate PR campaigns for commercial fiction and non-fiction titles, coordinating and liaising with all relevant internal
departments, and providing a high level of author and agent care
● To pitch and organize events, tours and festival appearances, both physical and
virtual, including engagement with promotional opportunities outside the publishing industry
● To maintain and further build effective personal relationships with a broad range of media, podcasts, digital event and industry contacts
● To ensure that, whenever relevant, campaigns are coordinated to best effect with US and other international counterparts
● To read new submissions and contribute to decisions for future publishing investment on request
● To maintain market awareness, to analyse the effectiveness of your own publicity campaigns as well as those of competitors and to use those findings to strengthen future Pan communications campaigns
● Occasional evening and weekend work will be required in this role

The successful candidate will have:
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills
● The ability to juggle and prioritise multiple tasks utilising a high level of organisational skills
● Proven experience working on events across a multitude of platforms
● Proven experience in working on publicity campaigns and providing a high level of author/talent care
● An understanding of print, broadcast and digital media
● A passion for books

  We’d love it if you had:
● At least 2 years experience in the PR department of a UK trade publisher
● An understanding of the market for Commercial Fiction, SFF and Non-Fiction

Salary starting from: £26,000 onwards
