Production Controller

Macmillan Children's Book is looking for an enthusiastic Production Controller to join its friendly and busy Production team. The ideal candidate would be a junior controller who is ready to step up to take greater responsibilities in print/production and work closely with senior members of the team to look after a wide range of 4c trade and novelty books, co-editions and reprints. Strong collaboration and communication skills are essential for this role as you will be liaising extensively with internal colleagues and external suppliers on a daily basis.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure books are produced within budget and on time
  • Quoting costs to the Rights and Sales teams
  • Raise purchase orders for reprints and co-editions
  • Work with printers and freight suppliers in Europe and Asia
  • Support the team with the archiving process
  • Ensure each title is assessed according to EU/UK Toy Safety Standards
  • Approving and reconciling invoices in a timely manner
  • Work closely in house with Editorial, Design and the Sales

Experience:

  • Manage and coordinate the production of 4c children’s titles and novelty books
  • Supply costing and scheduling, negotiating competitive prices with suppliers
  • Check files on InDesign/ Adobe before supplying them to printers
  • Co-ordinate shipping requirements for consignments around the world
  • Comfortable to working both independently and as part of a team to share workload

Skills required:

  • Knowledge in print, 4c titles and high novelty books
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Good numerical skills
  • A good understanding of both trade and co-ed printing
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and their different deadlines at the same time
  • Excellent time management
  • A positive can-do attitude

    Salary starting from: £25,000

    Closing Date: 3rd April 2022

    This is a full time, permanent contract, and will be based in our office in Farringdon, London, with some flexibility to work from home each week.
