Managing Editor

Managing Editor – A growing publishing services company, providing editorial, project management and translation services to publishers is looking to appoint an experienced Managing Editor to oversee all editorial aspects of copy-editing, proof reading and full project management of accepted assignments.

 

The company is based in Wiltshire and this role could be homebased for the right candidate. Working closely with colleagues and the Managing Director, you will be able to demonstrate first class editorial skills and strong project management experience. Experience of leading and mentoring a team will be advantageous.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • on handover of a new job check that it’s complete
  • agree the schedule & budget with the client/author/MD, as appropriate
  • populate our project management platform with the relevant details
  • create the copy-editing/proof-reading/design brief
  • ensure subcontractors deliver on time; take appropriate action if delays occur
  • keep the client informed of project progress, as required

You will have experience of book publishing processes; be highly competent in technical copy-editing; page layout and jacket design. Your thorough understanding of standard editorial styles and proof markup will be important in this new role.

 

Your ability to work in a methodical and systematic way will help you to prioritise as will your experience of multi-tasking.

 

First class communication and writing skills will be important in leading this team.
