Managing Editor

Academic Managing Editor | Australia. A leading, global academic publishing company is looking to appoint an experienced Managing Editor who will join their Melbourne-based Editorial team, supporting their extensive journal publishing programme. This position will not be involved in editing/writing/adapting content but will focus on managing relationships with academic editors and learned society contacts, journal development and process improvement.
You will manage the partnerships between journal editors and societies and will represent the company at external meetings. Your approach will be team oriented but you will also enjoy working autonomously, as required.
Responsibilities include:
* Manage all aspects of an assigned list of journals
* Building strong relationships and be the primary point of contact
* Overseeing the financial well-being of a defined list of journals
* Realizing opportunities for organic growth
* Working seamlessly with colleagues in Marketing, Production and other departments
* Supporting the acquisition of new titles and new society contracts

You should be able to demonstrate solid experience within academic journals or a books editorial capacity and will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good understanding of Excel will be important.
You will have sound commercial awareness, experience of managing multiple projects and will enjoy presenting and networking effectively.
