Managing Editor

Are you looking for a new role with greater responsibility and a broader workload? We have a super new role for an editorial professional with experience of working with science journals. The publishing arm of a leading, global organisation is looking for a motivated Managing Editor to grow an assigned list of journals through developing and commissioning content. This is a full-time permanent role.

The Managing Editor will be responsible for developing a list of journals through strategic journal development and content commissioning. You will build high performing editorial boards and working closely with them to identify and deliver the individual journal’s needs.  Working with the wider journals team, this role will build citations and relevance of published content and will run and use reports from the peer review system to drive development plans and improvement strategies.  The role will also involve working with the marketing team to ensure that journals are promoted through relevant channels and you will have the opportunity to represent the company at scientific conferences as required.

This is a highly important role for the team and the successful person will have proven experience of managing a list of science journals, ideally with experience of Open Access.  You will have a sound knowledge of publishing processes, strong time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines and a high degree of literacy and numeracy.  This is an ideal role for someone who is looking for their next step within journals publishing, and looking to take on greater responsibility and decision making.
