Managing Editor - Economics & Finance

We are looking for a switched on and motivated Managing Editor to join the journals team of a highly successful, global publisher in the Oxford area. This role will manage and steer the future development of the list and will build relationships with academic editors and learned societies.

Core responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Managing and developing a list of journals with support from an Editorial Assistant/Assistant Editor
  • Build strong relationships with a global group of academic editors and learned society contacts
  • Commission new titles and new society contracts under guidance from the Publisher
  • Ensure that existing publishing contracts are renewed
  • Oversee the financial  well-being of your list of journals
  • Prepare financial projections and proposals under guidance from the Publisher
  • Make presentations at editorial board meetings
  • Represent the company at international conferences

The successful person will:

  • Have a background in journals or books editorial and is looking for the next step in your publishing career
  • Possess sound commercial awareness of the academic market
  • Display strong communication skills and the ability to present effectively
  • Able to work deadlines
  • Able to travel to travel internationally
