Managing Editor - Journals

A highly successful London based publisher of biomedical journals is looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Managing Editor to direct and oversee the editing and publication of a suite of journals. The role will involve managing a small team of Editors. Our client offers hybrid working (2 days a week in the office).

This is an ideal role for an experienced journals professional looking for a new challenge and more responsibility, as you will be responsible for the day to day managing of the journals and evaluate the team’s output whilst dealing with any productivity issues. The role will also be responsible for having one-to-one meetings with the team and provide any support required and progress meetings. The Managing Editor will carry out first and second edits of articles and liaise with other senior members of the team with regards to evaluating the team’s output.

You will act as the final arbiter of production values for the journals, including overseeing consistency with in-house style, and check factual content, raising queries where necessary, and confirm potential problems with plagiarism, animal ethics, patient consent etc.

The successful person will be educated to degree level or higher in a biomedical subject with proven experience of scientific editing.  Ideally, you will have some experience of managing or mentoring a small team, but this is not essential. You will have great communication and organisation skills along with a strong eye for detail and the ability to work to deadlines.

This role carries a generous salary and company benefits. For further information please send your CV and a short cover note outlining your interest and salary expectations.
