Managing Editor (Research and Data)

A scientific society and publisher in central London are looking for a Managing Editor to develop and grow the profile of research titles.  You will implement content strategies and engage authors to drive excellent submissions.  This role will be suitable for an experienced and hands-on editor who is looking for a new challenge.

Key duties:

  • Grow quality submissions and ensure excellent coverage from expert authors
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans to support product strategies
  • Working with the Publisher and Insight Analyst to generate revenue plan for the products
  • Develop strategies and concepts for the online promotion of publishing content
  • Manage editorial workflows and copy-pipelines for the research journals
  • Manage editorial budget for meetings and Editor payments

Experience / skills required:

  • Solid editorial experience in STM journals publishing
  • Educated in degree qualification in a molecular biosciences subject, preferably to a Masters or PhD level
  • Solid commissioning and portfolio management experience
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Sound business acumen together with strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Willing to travel and attend international conferences
