Marketing Manager

We are working with an award-winning book publisher with offices in London and Oxford, and they are looking to hire a Marketing Manager for their growing academic list of open access books.

About you :

The preferred candidate will come with a marketing background in Open Access publishing (either from journals or books), and solid knowledge of strategic campaign planning and multi-channel marketing. They will be a strategically-minded marketeer with a good understanding (and preferably previous experience in) marketing to academic libraries and the broader academic community.

Other desirable skills include experience marketing publishing products to a global audience and utilising email marketing platforms or CRM technology,

The Role:

The job involves managing and developing the marketing and communications strategy for the Open Access books portfolio, including overseeing departmental campaigns, budgets, and various marketing initiatives. Responsibilities include implementing comprehensive marketing plans across multiple platforms and events such as academic conferences, staying informed about industry trends, collaborating on thought leadership pieces, and enhancing the global marketing team's skills.

This role will see you collaborating with different departments, contributing to company-wide initiatives, and occasionally travelling for conferences and events, so we are looking for someone who will be able to work as a team-player as well as contributing new ideas and initiatives.

The Company:

As we mentioned, this fantastic organisation publishes well-established (and fast-growing) academic collections, and this role will have specific responsibilities over some of their most renowned lists including Asia, African and Middle East.

Within the Academic division, they have recently launched a library-funded Open Collection initiative, and the Marketing Manager will have a chance to work on this and collaborating with the Global Director of Research to build awareness of the OA books programme and other research initiatives in the scholarly community.
