National Account Manager

Our client is looking for an exceptional candidate to join their team, in a newly created National Account Manager role. 

Our partners are the home of Classic Characters and are one of the country's leading character soft toy and nursery companies! They are a trusted name behind an abundance of high-profile and prestigious brand collections including Peter Rabbit, Paddington Bear and Disney Classics such as Winnie-the-Pooh (to name but a few.)  

The ideal candidate will have experience of selling into the top tier national accounts across toy retail, grocery, pharmacy, and department stores. You will be someone who enjoys a mix of managing accounts as well as business development.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • First point of contact with a range of top tier national accounts 
  • Responsible for creating strategic account plans
  • Attending meetings to pitch for business including trade shows at various points of the year, ensuring all customer appointments are secured ahead with preparation completed for each meeting
  • Preparing quotes, for ranged products, specials, bespoke ranges and FOB deals
  • Negotiating trading terms
  • Planning, costing and pitching for promotions and other retail support activity
  • Budget and account P&L responsibility
  • Liaising with correct customer departments including logistics, shipping, accounts, etc. to gather the correct operating procedure for each account
  • Making sure all departments internally are aware of the procedures for each customer in order to provide first class service
  •  Developing bespoke product ranges for individual customers as the opportunities arise
  • Attending and contributing to regular sales, forecast, brand and product development meetings
  • Identifying and making contact with prospect accounts and successfully opening new business

This role requires the successful candidate to work 2 days a week in the office.

Salary: Up to £50k DOE + bonus + car allowance
