Production Controller (full-time or part-time, fixed term contract)

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, organised, and pro-active individual to join our Nosy Crow Production team as a Production Controller. Nosy Crow is a multi-award winning, independent children’s publishing company based in London. We make child focused, parent-friendly children’s books for ages 0-12.

The role of the Production Controller is to support the production team as required across the Nosy Crow list, with responsibility for titles across all the lists including front list, backlist and co-editions. You will ensure the timely and commercial delivery of our award-winning titles, while maintaining the highest production standards. The role will work closely with colleagues across all areas of Nosy Crow as well as with our global supplier base.

You will love books, have a great eye for detail, be creative, numerate and exceptionally organised. You must be enthusiastic, positive, a great communicator and a strong team player. The ability to stay calm and focused under pressure is a must.

The role can be either a full-time or part-time position and is a hybrid role and you will be required to work in the office regularly (but this can be flexible) in our office near London Bridge.

The successful candidate will have the right to live and work in the UK.

Please note that this role is specifically targeted at book production and no other media.

This is a fixed-term contract for 3-6 months.

Key responsibilities and tasks:           

  • Manage the production of a wide variety of Production projects and titles, involving a high level of organisation, production know how and efficiency.
  • Provide holiday cover for the production team on both front list and backlist - from pre-press through to bulk production and delivery as required
  • Liaise directly with Rights customers ensuring the smooth flow of communication and data on the progress of their print orders including approvals and shipping documentation and that any special requests are met.
  • Work closely with the Sales department on the costing and production of full-colour specials projects, often to very tight specifications, costs and deadlines.
  • Provide admin support wherever necessary in the department.

Key skills, characteristics, and capabilities:

  • Solid book production experience
  • Children’s colour trade experience desired but not essential
  • Biblio experience preferable / desirable

The starting salary for this role will be no less than £35,000 depending on experience.
